Hartford Symphony POPS! Brings the “Big Top” to the Bushnell
HARTFORD, November 20, 2009 –The Hartford Symphony Orchestra will combine the jaw-dropping spectacle of a circus with the magnificent sounds of live orchestral music at “Cirque de la Symphonie” on Saturday, May 8, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. Mortensen Hall at the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts.
Cirque de la Symphonie is an elegant adaptation of some of the world’s most amazing cirque performances, including aerial flyers, acrobats, contortionists, dancers, jugglers, balancers, and strongmen. These gifted artists will team up with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra for an incredible night of dazzling music and imaginative cirque performances. The aerialists and acrobats will transform the HSO’s symphonic music into a three dimensional entertainment extravaganza.
HSO Executive Director Kristen Phillips says, “Classical music fans and new patrons alike will be thrilled by the exhilarating combination of cirque performers and the enchanting sounds of a live symphony orchestra. This concert spectacular is not to be missed!”
This program will replace legendary singer and actor Al Martino, who originally was scheduled to perform on May 8. Mr. Martino passed away on October 13, six days after his 82nd birthday.
