HSO Appoints Matthew Aubin as New Educational Programs Director

HARTFORD, January 28, 2010 – The Hartford Symphony Orchestra is proud to announce the appointment of its new education programs conductor, Matthew Aubin.  Maestro Aubin will lead the HSO for the first time at this week’s opening “Symphony in the Schools” Chamber Music Programs.

Matthew Aubin is the Conductor of the Hartt Symphony Band, Associate Conductor of the Hartt Contemporary Players Ensemble, and an Adjunct Professor of Conducting and Music Education at the Hartt School of the University of Hartford. Mr. Aubin moves easily amongst his diverse musical pursuits, which, in addition to conducting orchestras and wind ensembles, include performing the French horn professionally, and teaching music education courses and marching band. Prior to his appointment at the Hartt School, Mr. Aubin was the Director of Instrumental Music at the Norwich Free Academy in Norwich, Connecticut.

The HSO “Symphony in the Schools” Chamber Orchestra program presents a thrilling concert structured around this year’s theme, “Music Tells a Story.” Through fascinating excerpts and captivating dialogue, this program not only encourages students to study an instrument, but aids in fostering a lifetime appreciation for great music.
