HSO & Classical Mystery Tour “Come Together” for Beatles Tribute at Talcott Mountain Music Festival

SIMSBURY, CT- June 14, 2010– The four performers of Classical Mystery Tour – Jim Owen, Thomas Teeley, Chris Camilleri, and Glen Burtnik – will transform into the “Fab Four” when they join the Hartford Symphony Orchestra to play a night of The Beatles’ greatest hits at the closing concert of the 2010 Talcott Mountain Music Festival SM on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. the Performing Arts Center at Simsbury Meadows. HSO Concertmaster Leonid Sigal will live “A Day in the Life” of a conductor as he puts his violin aside to guest conduct this groovy outdoor concert.

“The Classical Mystery Tour’s HSO debut at the 2008 Talcott Mountain Music Festival easily was one of our most popular shows of all time,” says HSO Executive Director Kristen Phillips. “We are thrilled to bring back again this summer with a new selection of Beatles’ hits. Many Beatles fans never had the opportunity to experience a live Beatles show; this concert will offer that live experience.”

The four musicians of Classical Mystery Tour look and sound like The Beatles, but Classical Mystery Tour is more than just a rock concert, presenting Beatles tunes sung, played, and performed exactly as they were written. With accompaniment from the Hartford Symphony, audiences will hear “All You Need is Love” with trumpets, experience the mystery of “Eleanor Rigby” with a string section, and enjoy the blend of rock and classical on “Golden Slumbers.”

Since its initial show at the Performing Arts Center in 1996, Classical Mystery Tour has performed with more than 100 orchestras across the United States and around the world, receiving accolades from fans and the media. Classical Mystery Tour features Jim Owen (as John Lennon) on rhythm guitar, piano, and vocals; Glen Burtnik (as Paul McCartney) on bass guitar, piano, and vocals; Tom Teeley (as George Harrison) on lead guitar and vocals; and Chris Camilleri (as Ringo Starr) on drums and vocals.

HSO Concertmaster (principal violinist) Leonid Sigal has enjoyed a multi-faceted career as recitalist, chamber musician, and orchestra leader. He makes frequent returns to the podium, of which most recent highlights include leading the HSO in Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 and Poulenc’s Sinfonietta, as well as works by Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Glazunov, Borodin and Prokofiev. Mr. Sigal will be featured as a soloist this season at the 2010 Talcott Mountain Music Festival in a performance of Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons and in May 2011 in the world premiere performance of Gryc’s Harmonia Mundi. Mr. Sigal is also concertmaster and assistant conductor of the Atlantic Chamber Orchestra and has served as Artistic Director of the Miami Chamber Symphony.
