IMSBURY, CT- June 2, 2010– Back by popular demand, the Hartford Symphony Orchestra’s Talcott Mountain Music Festival SM will pay tribute to the movers and shakers of Motown and R&B with vocal quartet SPECTRUM on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Simsbury Meadows. Led by “Soul Man” Music Director Edward Cumming, this concert will blend the smooth voices of Darryl Grant, Pierre Jovan, David Prescott, and Cushney Roberts with the vibrant sounds of the HSO in Motown and R&B’s greatest hits by The Four Tops, The Temptations, The Drifters, Boyz 2 Men, Stevie Wonder, The Delfonics, and The Spinners.
Music Director Edward Cumming says, “If an orchestra guy like me can grow up listening to Sly and the Family Stone, Earth Wind and Fire and Smokey Robinson, then you know R&B is a great fit with the American Orchestra. Note to audience: if you’re sitting still for this program, you’re not paying attention!”
After spending six stellar years in Las Vegas’ multi-million dollar production shows “American Superstars” and “Legends In Concert,” SPECTRUM has developed the versatility to cover the music of everyone from The Platters to The Temptations to Boyz 2 Men. Spectrum’s credits include European tours, headlining aboard Royal Caribbean, Princess & Norwegian Cruise Line ships, as well as performances with more than 40 orchestras throughout North America. Spectrum was voted “Best of Las Vegas” twice and winner’s of Vegas Entertainment Consumer’s 2009 Living Legends Award for Excellence in Entertainment. Spectrum’s credentials include guest appearances on The Today Show; motion pictures; equity theater; professional sporting events singing the National Anthem; performing/recording with or opening for Tony Bennett, the Temptations, Blue Magic, Little Richard, the late Marty Robbins, the Platters, Frankie Lymon’s Teenagers, Doc Severenson and Fat Larry’s Band, and more.
