Plan Your Visit

Etiquette/Attire

Come as you are. It doesn’t matter if you come in black tie or blue jeans, or whether you subscribe to every series or are trying out live, orchestral music for the first time.  To get the most out of your experience, we recommend that you try to take your seat at least 10-20 minutes before the concert starts; you wouldn’t want to miss the opening notes of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony or the roar of the audience when Carolyn Kuan takes the stage!  During the concert, we won’t be upset if you clap in between movements, and we will love it if you act upon your urge to stand up and cheer at the end of a performance you’ve enjoyed.

Late Seating Policy

Common courtesy and concert etiquette require that there be no seating while music is being played.

Our concerts start at the time indicated on your tickets. Ticket holders who arrive after the entrance of the concertmaster will be seated at the discretion of Hartford Symphony staff, and only during appropriate pauses in the program. In some cases, HSO staff may permit latecomers to stand in the back of the hall until the first late seating opportunity.

For concerts at The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts, latecomers may watch and listen to the program on The Bushnell’s lobby televisions while waiting for the appropriate break in the program.

Enjoy your Hartford Symphony concert!
