Electrifying, exhilarating, exciting…
…and vital. No matter who we are or where we live, we want to be living in a vital community.
A robust arts environment is a key to creating this vitality.
These are exciting times at the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, as the new generation of artistic leadership under Carolyn Kuan has begun! Not only has she scheduled a very compelling series of concerts for the 2011-2012 season, Carolyn was the primary driving force behind the recent free Community Concert season preview — in which more than 2,500 people, including many first-time concertgoers, experienced first-hand the thrill of a live HSO performance.
As exciting as these times are, though, it is critical to remember that donors make the difference. Even at our concerts, where we perform to nearly full houses, ticket revenues only cover 40% of the costs. Plus, the HSO offers a wide variety of community engagement and education programs, often free of charge, in order to bring life-changing musical experiences to those who might not otherwise be able to attend. Outstanding music will not only survive but flourish in Hartford through the generous support of donors.
Please take this moment to make a gift to the HSO. If you gave for the first time last year, or increased your giving because of the very successful Chairman’s Challenge, let me ask that you not think of that donation as a one-time offering. Instead think of this year’s gift and all future gifts to the HSO as an investment not only in the music you love but also in our community.
Your support sets the stage to make the 2011-2012 season a resounding success!
